In a bold step toward menu innovation, Papa Johns has launched a new item that is likely to excite pizza lovers everywhere. The global pizza chain has introduced the Croissant Pizza, a unique twist that combines traditional pizza flavors with a buttery, flaky croissant crust.
This new offering reflects a growing trend in the fast-food industry, where companies are exploring creative combinations to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. From Little Caesars’ pretzel crust to Pizza Hut’s Cheesy Bites and Domino’s Parmesan Stuffed Crust, pizza chains have continuously reimagined the classic dough base to attract customers seeking something new.
Papa Johns’ Croissant Pizza marks the latest chapter in this trend. Featuring the brand’s signature tomato sauce and toppings, the Croissant Pizza stands out with its distinctive crust—braided, golden, and light, resembling a freshly baked croissant.
“As a brand built on innovation, distinction, and quality, we’re always looking to global food culture for inspiration—and turning it into exciting new experiences that stand out,” said Chris Lyn-Sue, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of International at Papa Johns. “We conducted extensive research to understand what consumers wanted from our next global innovation. Croissant Pizza scored highly across all markets.”
Inspired by the viral success of pastry hybrids like the cronut (croissant-doughnut) and crookie (croissant-cookie), Papa Johns spent over a year developing its own fusion product. The company believes the Croissant Pizza taps into global trends and offers something fresh to the quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector.
To support the launch, Papa Johns has partnered with fashion label KidSuper Studios to release a limited-edition Papa Johns x KidSuper Hot Bag, designed specifically to pair with the Croissant Pizza. This marketing collaboration aims to position the new item as not just a meal, but a cultural moment.
Like other Papa Johns pizzas, the Croissant Pizza can be customized with any toppings of the customer’s choosing, offering flexibility alongside novelty.
At present, the Croissant Pizza is only available in select international markets, including the United Arab Emirates, Korea, China, Chile, and Peru. While there are no current plans to introduce the product in the U.S., the international rollout may hint at future expansion if the item proves successful abroad.
Papa Johns’ new crust option shows the company’s commitment to innovation and its readiness to experiment with flavor and form to meet evolving global tastes. If customer response is strong, American pizza fans may find themselves sampling this flaky new twist sooner than expected.
