Walterboro, SC – Krystal, the fast-food chain famous for its signature square sliders, crispy fries, and comfort food favorites, is returning to South Carolina’s Lowcountry with a new restaurant. The new location will open at 1222 Bell Highway in Walterboro, marking Krystal’s fifth restaurant in the state.
The official opening is planned for July, with the exact date to be announced soon. A family-friendly grand opening event will follow. Customers can expect the full Krystal menu, featuring popular items such as Cheese Krystals, Double Krystals, Jumbo Chicken Tenders, Bacon & Cheese Krystals, and the Smash’d & Stack’d Burger. The menu also includes hot dogs called Pups, chicken sandwiches known as Chiks, breakfast items, value packs, and combo meals. The restaurant will offer both dine-in and drive-thru service.
This Walterboro location follows the successful launch of Krystal’s Orangeburg restaurant in December 2024, a project done in partnership with media personality Charlamagne Tha God. The new opening is part of Krystal’s ongoing growth in South Carolina. Other locations currently operate in North Augusta, Aiken, Gaffney, and Orangeburg.
Amanda Hyde, Senior Vice President of Operations at Krystal, emphasized the brand’s focus on building strong relationships. “As we grow in South Carolina, our priority is creating meaningful connections with our guests and team members,” Hyde said. “That means more than just serving great food. It means greeting guests by name, carefully preparing every order, and fostering an environment where our team feels empowered to provide true hospitality.”
Krystal is also recruiting for the Walterboro restaurant. A hiring event will take place on Wednesday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the new location. The company plans to hire 40 employees across all shifts. Applicants need to bring a valid ID and Social Security number. No prior experience is required—only a passion for great food and excellent service.
Founded in 1932, Krystal has been a Southern favorite for over 90 years. The chain has evolved with the times but continues to focus on warm hospitality and classic, crave-worthy flavors.
