GASTONIA, N.C. — Whataburger, the popular Texas-based fast-food chain, will open its first North Carolina restaurant in Gastonia later this month. The new restaurant, located on East Franklin Boulevard near Lineberger Road, is set to welcome customers at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 29.
Debbie Stroud, president and CEO of Whataburger, said, “For 75 years, Whataburger has grown from a single burger stand into a brand folks love across the country — but our heart has always stayed right where it belongs: in local communities just like Gastonia.”
While Whataburger held a groundbreaking event earlier this year for a location in Hickory, scheduled to open in June, the Gastonia site will be the first to open in the state.
