ORLANDO, FL – June 2025 — KFC’s experimental restaurant concept, KFC Saucy!, is adding a bold new item to its menu just six months after launching. The fast-food chain has introduced the Chick’ito BBQ Wrap, a creative new take on its signature chicken, as it aims to keep pace with competitors like Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and Popeyes in the growing chicken category.
The new wrap features crispy chicken tenders wrapped in a warm tortilla, layered with sweet and smoky barbecue sauce, jalapeño slaw, and finished with a dill pickle spear. The item continues KFC’s effort to innovate while staying true to its roots.
A Concept Centered on Sauces
KFC Saucy! opened its first and only location in Orlando, Florida, in December 2024. The concept puts chicken tenders at the forefront, paired with an exclusive line of 11 sauces. The number 11 is a deliberate nod to the brand’s famous 11 herbs and spices that make up its Original Recipe.
The Orlando-based location is designed to test new flavors and menu formats, with the potential for national rollout in the future. According to the company, more Saucy! locations are expected to open, though no dates have been confirmed.
The Chicken Wars Continue
KFC’s new offering comes as part of a larger trend among major fast-food brands expanding their chicken-focused options. Taco Bell recently launched a chicken burrito and chicken nuggets, while McDonald’s plans to bring back its popular Chicken Snack Wrap in July. Popeyes has also joined the movement with the debut of its own chicken wrap.
The addition of the Chick’ito BBQ Wrap positions KFC Saucy! to compete directly with these new offerings, aiming to attract both loyal customers and curious newcomers seeking flavorful twists on classic chicken dishes.
A Strategic Play for Growth
Though the Chick’ito BBQ Wrap is currently available only at the Saucy! location in Orlando, it may serve as a testing ground for potential national expansion. KFC’s push to innovate, while still leaning on its well-known chicken expertise, reflects the brand’s desire to stay competitive in an evolving fast-food market.
With the Chick’ito BBQ Wrap now on the menu, KFC’s latest concept restaurant is showing signs of creativity and adaptability—two ingredients crucial for success in the ever-changing world of quick-service dining.
