This Wednesday, May 28, 2025, marks the International Hamburger Day, one of the world’s most beloved foods. Carl’s Jr. is joining the celebration again with a special promotion, allowing customers to buy a ‘Famous Star’ cheeseburger for only 1 peso.
To access this deal, customers must first purchase any combo from the menu. This purchase then gives the right to get an additional cheeseburger at the symbolic price of one peso. The promotion, active since 2017, will run throughout the operating hours of participating locations — from opening until closing time.
However, the offer excludes restaurants located inside airports, children’s combos, and cannot be combined with other promotions.
The hamburger is an iconic fast-food item with many variations and a rich history. Its origin is debated. The most accepted story credits Charlie Nagreen in 1885, who reportedly invented the hamburger by placing a meatball between two slices of bread to make it easier to eat at a Wisconsin fair.
Another theory attributes the first serving to Louis Lassen, a German immigrant in Connecticut, on May 28, 1900 — the very date celebrated internationally today. Although the name “hamburger” refers to Hamburg, Germany, it was in the United States that this dish was transformed and popularized, largely thanks to the rise of fast-food chains, according to National Geographic.
