ROUND ROCK, Texas — Whataburger is expanding its footprint in Central Texas with two new restaurants planned for the growing Austin-area suburb of Round Rock. One of the locations is expected to be completed later this month.
According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) submitted on Monday, May 5, both restaurants will be newly constructed and carry an estimated cost of $2.6 million each. While the two projects are similar in cost and size, they will be built at different sites. All details from the TDLR are preliminary and subject to change.
The first location is listed at the southwest corner of East Palm Valley Boulevard and North A.W. Grimes Boulevard, near a shopping center that includes an H-E-B Plus! grocery store. This new 3,305-square-foot restaurant is scheduled to begin construction on August 20, with completion expected by December 20.
The second Whataburger does not yet have a confirmed address but will be located within the 78633 ZIP code, also in Round Rock. It will match the first location in size and design. Construction on that restaurant was originally set to begin in January, with a projected completion date of May 20. However, the exact location remains unconfirmed.
