McDonald’s Launches New Burger in the UK Called the ‘Big Arch’ – Bigger and Bolder Than the Big Mac

by Nick

McDonald’s UK has announced an exciting new burger, the Big Arch, which will arrive on menus from June 18. This new creation is already available in countries like Canada, France, and Portugal, but UK fans will soon get their first taste — even before the US.

The Big Arch aims to be a bold upgrade from the classic Big Mac. It features two Quarter Pounder beef patties, making it larger and wider than the iconic burger it seeks to outshine.

What Makes the Big Arch Special?

The star of the Big Arch is its unique Big Arch sauce. This new signature sauce combines McDonald’s ketchup, mustard, and pickle juice with a hint of pepper and other secret ingredients. It is spread on both halves of a toasted sesame and poppy seed bun.

The burger is layered with crispy onions on one side and raw slivered onions on the other. Shredded lettuce and pickles add freshness. Each half carries a Quarter Pounder patty topped with a slice of white cheddar. One side also has a second slice of cheese, which gets sandwiched perfectly between the two beef patties as the burger is closed.

Thomas O’Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, describes the Big Arch as “one of the biggest things [McDonald’s] will launch in a generation.” He said the burger is designed to satisfy large appetites and deliver “serious deliciousness.”

He added, “The sauce is brand new. It’s designed to taste and feel like McDonald’s. If you close your eyes and try this product, it couldn’t be from anybody else but us.”

Tasting the Big Arch

The burger’s size and sauciness pose a challenge when eating. The generous amount of sauce causes the ingredients to slip, making it a messy experience. One reviewer joked about needing a bib made of napkins and eventually resorted to eating it with a knife and fork.

Due to its size and richness, the Big Arch is not ideal for quick meals on the go or eating in the car. However, for those very hungry moments when a Big Mac or Double Cheeseburger isn’t enough, the Big Arch promises to fill that gap — and then some.

After trying it, one diner admitted only finishing half the burger. The Big Arch certainly lives up to its promise of being a filling and bold new addition to the McDonald’s menu.
