California-based hot dog chain Wienerschnitzel announced last week that it plans to open locations inside Walmart stores later this year. This move will allow Walmart shoppers to enjoy hot dogs while they shop.
Wienerschnitzel joins other well-known brands like McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Subway, and Snack Bar, which have operated inside Walmart stores for years. The company aims to bring its famous hot dogs to Walmart locations nationwide.
Shak Turner, director of franchise expansion for Wienerschnitzel, said in a company press release, “Wienerschnitzel has spent decades building a strong reputation, especially on the West Coast. This expansion into Walmart stores marks a new era of growth for the brand.”
The company’s plan is part of a broader strategy to expand into “non-traditional venues.” These include airports, military bases, theme parks, food courts, and convenience stores.
According to the press release, “These non-traditional formats allow us to modernize our footprint, introduce our iconic flavors to new audiences, and strengthen the brand’s relevance in today’s changing retail and dining landscape.”
This partnership with Walmart represents a major step for Wienerschnitzel as it seeks to reach more customers in convenient and popular shopping destinations.
