Romania’s Sphera Franchise Opens Fourth KFC Restaurant in Pitesti

June 4 (SeeNews) – Romanian fast food operator Sphera Franchise Group announced on Wednesday the opening of a new KFC restaurant in Pitesti, located in Arges county in southern Romania. The company invested approximately 600,000 euros ($684,688) in the new outlet.

The new KFC restaurant is about 120 square meters and is situated within Retail Park Pitesti. This marks the fourth KFC location in the city and the 110th across Romania, according to a press release from Sphera Franchise Group. The opening also created 30 new jobs in the area.

This new unit is the group’s third KFC opening this year, following recent launches in Galati and Iasi.

Sphera Franchise Group operates a total of 176 restaurants, including KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, across Romania, Italy, and Moldova. The company employs around 5,000 people.

In the first quarter of 2025, Sphera reported a net profit of 7.8 million lei ($1.8 million / 1.5 million euros), which is a 63.6% decrease compared to the same period last year. Despite this, the group aims to increase its net profit by 8.2% to reach 105.2 million lei by the end of 2025.

Shares of Sphera Franchise Group, considered a blue-chip stock, fell 0.74% to 40.5 lei as of 11:01 CET on Wednesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
