McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd has confirmed it is actively considering opening a third location in Bracknell, as part of ongoing efforts to expand its footprint in the area.
The fast-food giant currently operates two outlets in Bracknell—one at The Lexicon and another at The Keep in Wildridings.
The company revealed its interest in launching a third store while outlining proposed upgrades to its Wildridings site.
According to submitted planning documents, the Wildridings location has been hindered by outdated IT systems and inefficient kitchen processes. The proximity of the site to nearby trees and public highways has made it difficult to carry out necessary improvements.
The new proposal, now under review by Bracknell Forest Council, seeks to remove six trees currently protected by a tree preservation order to facilitate upgrades. The plan also includes changes to the restaurant’s access routes, parking layout, and drive-thru operations. Three additional trees would require minor work, and all six felled trees would be replanted elsewhere.
While the company has not yet disclosed the exact location of the proposed third store, the potential expansion signals McDonald’s long-term investment in Bracknell.
In 2017, McDonald’s reported employing 189 people across Bracknell Forest, with 164 working in its restaurants and 26 involved in its supply chain. That figure predates the opening of the second outlet at The Lexicon shopping centre.
The fast-food chain also stated that it had contributed approximately £2.89 million to the local economy within Bracknell Forest.
If the expansion at the Wildridings location proceeds, the company expects to create additional jobs to support increased operations.
Bracknell Forest Council has officially validated the planning application for changes at The Keep. A final decision on the proposal has not yet been made.
