PUEBLO, Colo. — Texas-based burger chain Whataburger is continuing its expansion in Colorado with the opening of a new location in Pueblo, marking its eighth restaurant in the state since its return in 2022.

BurgerWorks Colorado will officially open the new Whataburger at 11 a.m. on Friday at 2850 W. Pueblo Blvd., located south of Colorado Springs.

The Pueblo site follows a groundbreaking ceremony held in October. Whataburger initially began as a small burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the 1950s and has since grown to over 1,050 locations across 16 states.

After a decades-long absence, Whataburger re-entered the Colorado market in 2022. The company now operates six restaurants in Colorado Springs, along with single locations in Monument and Pueblo.

Historically, Whataburger had a presence in Colorado, including a site on 88th Avenue in Thornton that eventually became Jim’s Burger Haven.
